GAZA, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli hostage was killed "under mysterious circumstances" in the northern Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera TV channel reported on Monday, citing an official source in the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
The anonymous source said the Israeli hostage was killed in one of the combat areas in recent days, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.
No further details were provided about the incident, and the Israeli army has not commented on this report.
In addition, the brigades said in a statement that their forces ambushed an Israeli engineering unit in northern Gaza, resulting in casualties among the crews west of the Jabalia camp.
