BERLIN, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Calmness has always been Harry Kane's answer to his goalless games. While others quickly talk about a crisis or at least a concerning drought, the 31-year-old England captain relies on his apparent unwavering self-confidence.
While keeping calm and heading for training again is Kane's current pattern, four games without a goal for his club and country have triggered reports of him being in trouble, after his season started with 10 goals and six assists in nine club games.
While his teammate Thomas Muller recommends focusing on the upcoming challenges, some media headlines talk of apparent difficulties due to the energy-sapping pressing system implemented by Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.
"Don't panic. He will score soon. He always did," said Muller.
"He came to win titles. If we don't get that done this season, he might be annoyed, but I am sure we do it," commented Bayern's former CEO and board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
While Kane took the Bundesliga's top scorer crown last season with 36 goals in 32 games, along with 10 assists, a title remained an unsatisfied desire.
"He is a leader, on and off the pitch," said Rummenigge, adding that goals are only one chapter in the story of Kane.
While former Bayern midfielder and TV pundit Thomas Strunz said that "he is always good at scoring two goals out of nothing", Bayern's officials and Kompany back their 100 million euro striker.
"If he has to decide on the team and his goals, he always goes for the squad's benefit. He is a team player," the Bayern coach stated. "Kane hasn't lost his gut feeling for situations in the box and scoring. He is experienced enough to know you sometimes need to be patient."
With the 2025 Champions League final taking place at Bayern’s Munich Arena, Kane claims to be prepared for a hard journey. "We dream of the final at home, of course. The key is to work as a robust team enjoying football. At present, I see we are." ■
