HONG KONG, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted Volcano Islands, Japan Region at 0918 GMT on Friday, the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 25.21 degrees north latitude and 143.04 degrees east longitude. ■
