KHARTOUM, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's annual inflation rate dropped to 215.52 percent in September from 218.18 percent in August, the country's Central Bureau of Statistics announced on Thursday.

The inflation rate in urban areas registered 183.19 percent in September compared to 189.38 in August, while in rural areas, it dropped to 237.65 percent in September from 237.70 percent in August, the bureau said in a statement.

The inflation rate decreased in 12 states, increased in four states, and remained stable in two states, according to the statement.

Sudan has been ravaged by a deadly conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since mid-April 2023. The conflict has severely affected the country's economy, leading to soaring inflation, rising unemployment, and increased poverty.
