PHNOM PENH, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) officially issued on Wednesday a 200,000-riel banknote (50 U.S. dollars) in order to mark the 20th anniversary of King Norodom Sihamoni's coronation.
A sub-decree on the issuance of the 200,000-riel currency was signed by Prime Minister Hun Manet.
The new banknote displays the picture of Sihamoni together with his mother, former Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, on the obverse, and his photo alone on the reverse, NBC's governor Chea Serey said in an announcement.
The monarch, 71, ascended the throne as the King of Cambodia on Oct. 29, 2004 after his father, late King Norodom Sihanouk, abdicated due to health problem. ■
