MUSCAT, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad al-Busaidi and his visiting Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi met here on Monday to discuss bilateral cooperation and the latest challenges in the region.

A statement released by Oman's Foreign Ministry said the two sides addressed several regional issues, particularly the escalation resulting from the "persistent" Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, both ministers reiterated their countries' "continuous support for efforts to stop escalation and ease tensions in the region," the statement added.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Araghchi told Oman News Agency that Iran is ready for "any scenario," while stressing that "diplomacy is the only way to prevent major crises and avoid the escalation of tensions and wars in the region."

Araghchi arrived in Oman's capital Muscat for an official visit after his trip to Baghdad, as part of his regional tour to discuss the latest security developments in the Middle East.
