BRASILIA, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Striker Igor Jesus said Brazil would seek a direct route to goal against Peru in their World Cup qualifier here on Tuesday.

The strategy was used effectively last Thursday, when Brazil attacked with greater urgency - especially in central areas - en route to a 2-1 away victory over Chile.

"We had a completely different approach in our last game, with two players infiltrating the center of the defense," said Igor, who scored on his international debut against Chile.

"Raphinha and I opened up a lot of spaces to free up Rodrygo. We have to maintain the same kind of intensity and attack vertically against Peru to try to get a positive result."

Igor described his goal-scoring debut as a "dream come true" and said his next major objective was to represent Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.

"I've been feeling good here," the 23-year-old Botafogo striker said. "My style fits in with how Dorival Junior [Brazil manager] wants to play, by attacking spaces at every opportunity.

"Dorival has given me a lot of confidence. He tells me not to do anything different from what I do at Botafogo. I'm aggressive when man-marking and I can hold the ball up front so the team can breathe."

Brazil are current fourth in the 10-team South American zone qualifying standings while Peru are ninth.
