MEXICO CITY, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's Senate on Wednesday ratified Juan Ramon de la Fuente as minister of foreign affairs.

With 118 votes in favor, seven against and zero abstentions, lawmakers endorsed his appointment as chief of diplomacy in President Claudia Sheinbaum's cabinet.

After the vote, Gerardo Fernandez Norona, president of the Senate, swore in de la Fuente as foreign minister.
