BERLIN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt climbed to second place in the table after Omar Marmoush's brace paved the way for a 4-2 win over a resilient Holstein Kiel at the conclusion of round five on Sunday.
The Eagles took control from the kickoff but were patient in creating clear scoring opportunities. Marmoush broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, finishing from 10 meters after Tuta's deep through ball set him up inside the near post.
However, Frankfurt's lead was short-lived, as Kiel was awarded a penalty six minutes later when Robin Koch fouled Lewis Holtby in the area. Shuto Machino stepped up to convert the spot-kick into the bottom right-hand corner.
Kiel thought they had taken the lead in the 36th minute, but Machino's goal was disallowed due to a preceding foul. Marmoush remained a threat but was denied twice by Kiel goalkeeper Timon Weiner just before the half-time whistle.
After the break, Marmoush stayed in the thick of the action, delivering a precise corner two minutes into the second half, which Igor Matanovic capitalized on to make it 2-1.
Kiel responded quickly, leveling the score just three minutes later when Machino netted his second goal of the night after Frankfurt failed to clear a corner.
Frankfurt continued to press and regained the lead in the 60th minute. Marmoush collected a loose ball and slotted home from close range, making it 3-2.
Marmoush was unstoppable as he provided his second assist in the 74th minute, squaring the ball to Tuta, who secured the 4-2 victory.
The fourth win in five matches lifts Frankfurt to second place in the standings, while winless Holstein Kiel remains at the bottom.
"I'm very happy with the performance. We started well and deserved to take the lead, but we lost our way a bit after the penalty. The boys showed good resilience after the draw against Pilsen, which was a bit of a mental setback. The reaction was good. Even after the 2-2, we reacted well, which makes me proud," said Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Werder Bremen made a remarkable comeback from three goals down to beat 10-man Hoffenheim 4-3. ■
