JERUSALEM, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Russian grandmaster Peter Svidler won the title of the Jerusalem Masters rapid chess tournament that concluded on Wednesday.

The two-day tournament, held at the Ramada Hotel in West Jerusalem, featured ten grandmasters, including five of the world's top players and five Israeli national team players, competing in a round-robin format and a time control of 15 minutes per player.

Svidler finished with 6.5 points and secured a prize of 30,000 U.S. dollars. He lost only one match, in the last round against his compatriot Daniil Dubov, after he already secured first place.

Dubov, who finished seventh at the last Rapid World Chess Championship held in Uzbekistan, shared second place this time with Dutchman Jorden van Foreest, both finishing with 5.5 points. The two were not separated even after applying four tie-breaking methods.

At the same time, there was an open competition with the participation of 290 players, which was won by the 18-year-old Israeli Yahli Sokolovsky who obtained eight points from nine matches.
