JERUSALEM, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Lebanese people on Tuesday that attacks on Lebanon will continue.

"We will continue to strike Hezbollah," Netanyahu said in a video statement, accusing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah of leading Lebanon "to the brink of disaster."

He reiterated a call made on Monday for civilians to evacuate homes where Hezbollah has allegedly stored missiles. "Anyone with a missile in their living room and a rocket in their garage will no longer have a home," the prime minister warned.

Israel began on Monday its most extensive bombardment of Lebanon since 2006, killing more than 550 people and injuring over 1,800 others across the country.

The sharp escalation has raised concerns about the potential for a full-scale conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with fears that other nations could also become involved.
