BEIRUT, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 50 people were killed, and 300 others were wounded on Monday in Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, said the Lebanese Health Ministry.
The ministry added that the casualties include women, children, and paramedics.
Lebanese military sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua that Israeli warplanes so far carried out more than 300 air raids on Monday on large areas in eastern and southern Lebanon, targeting about 40 towns and villages in southern Lebanon and 17 towns and villages in the western Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon.
"The Lebanese Red Cross and Civil Defense vehicles are working to transport the injured to hospitals across southern and eastern Lebanon," the sources said. ■
