ANKARA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish Trade Ministry has announced an extension of its restrictions on importing electric vehicles, including hybrids and plug-in models, according to a notice published in the Official Gazette on Friday.

The new regulation expands the authorized service obligation, previously introduced for electric vehicles at the end of last year, to include rechargeable hybrid vehicles.

Effective in 30 days, the decision mandates that importers establish 20 authorized service shops across seven regions of Türkiye, a requirement also set last year for electric vehicle imports.

Under the new rules, the Turkish Standards Institute must certify that these service stations are in place to provide after-sales assembly, maintenance, and repair for the imported vehicles.
