BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.03 percent to 2,736.81 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.15 percent lower at 8,075.14 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 574.7 billion yuan (about 81.35 billion U.S. dollars), down from 627 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the electronic information, real estate and home appliance sectors led the gains, while companies engaged in the shipbuilding and medical equipment industries suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.64 percent to close at 1,536.6 points Friday. ■
