HONG KONG, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 jolted Kermadec Islands region at 11:53 GMT on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 35.0 km, was initially determined to be at 27.44 degrees south latitude and 176.74 degrees west longitude. ■
