COLOMBO, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's Election Commission and the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) have taken steps to conduct the upcoming presidential election without any impact from possible disasters due to bad weather, an official said on Wednesday.
DMC Assistant Director Janaka Handunpathiraja told the media that a joint program would be kept in place with the Election Commission to conduct the election without any problem in possible natural disaster.
He said the details related to the plan for mitigation of any impact from bad weather could be downloaded from the DMC website.
The presidential election will take place on Sept. 21 with over 17 million registered voters to elect the South Asian country's president for the next five years. ■
