TOKYO, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Japan's core machinery orders fell a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent in July from the previous month, government data showed on Wednesday.

Private-sector orders excluding those for ships and power equipment, closely watched as a leading indicator of corporate capital spending, came to 874.9 billion yen (about 6.17 billion U.S. dollars) after gaining 2.1 percent in June, according to the Cabinet Office.

By sector, machinery orders from manufacturers dropped 5.7 percent to 398.4 billion yen, while those from non-manufacturers increased 7.5 percent to 484.4 billion yen, the data showed.

The Cabinet Office said the pickup in machinery orders is at a standstill, adopting the same assessment for the third straight month.
