GAZA, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli drone struck a car in Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, killing two people and injuring 11 others, according to Palestinian security sources.
The sources claimed the targeted vehicle belonged to civilians. The Israeli army has not yet commented on the incident.
This strike is part of a large-scale offensive by Israel against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, initiated in retaliation for a Hamas attack that breached the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths and about 250 hostages taken.
Gaza-based health authorities reported on Wednesday that the Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks has risen to 41,272. ■
