NEW YORK, Sep. 6 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted east of North Island, New Zealand, at 17:30:40 GMT on Friday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 35.34 degrees south latitude and 179.45 degrees west longitude. ■
