HANOI, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has had over 400 green buildings with a combined certified construction area of about 10 million square meters, exceeding the target set by 2030, Vietnam News Agency cited the Ministry of Construction on Wednesday.
The report says the current number of green buildings in Vietnam is fairly average in the ASEAN region.
Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van said the criteria, standards and tools for evaluating and certifying green buildings popular in Vietnam were now quite complete, specific, and transparent.
In 2023, Vietnam ranked 28th in the world in the number of green buildings certified under the LEED system by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Vietnam aims for 80 green buildings by 2025 and 150 by 2030, according to the National Energy Efficiency Program. ■
