CHISINAU, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Moldova's Finance Minister Petru Rotaru resigned from his position and will take a senior post at the country's central bank, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced on Thursday.

Recean thanked Rotaru for his contributions to the ministry and praised him for strengthening relations with the business community and central public administration institutions.

Anca Dragu, the governor of Moldova's central bank, proposed Rotaru's appointment as the deputy governor of the bank, highlighting his experience and integrity. The proposal will be submitted to Moldova's parliament for approval.

Rotaru previously served as the head of the State Tax Service and was appointed as finance minister in September 2023.
