SINGAPORE, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's manufacturing production increased 2.9 percent year-on-year in May, following the 1.2-percent contraction in April, according to data released by the Economic Development Board Wednesday.
Output of the electronic sector expanded 20.1 percent year-on-year in May. The chemicals and transport engineering production grew 7.9 percent and 7.8 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the biomedical manufacturing output contracted 42.6 percent year-on-year in May due to a 67.2 percent decline in the pharmaceuticals segment. ■
