MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan, June 12 (Xinhua) -- A three-day industrial exhibition opened Tuesday in Mazar-i-Sharif city, capital of north Afghanistan's Balkh province, provincial head for commerce and investment Asadullah Asadi said Wednesday.

The businesspeople including 80 women have put on display their products in 130 stalls in two separate areas, where 80 booths have been allocated for female entrepreneurs.

The event is aimed at boosting local products and small-scale business activities, Asadi said, adding that the caretaker administration wants to support business activities and local products as part of efforts to help locals achieve self-sufficiency.

Local products including carpets, handicrafts, embroidery, medicines and vehicles are being exhibited.

To highlight local products, two more larger exhibitions to showcase local manufacturing goods including agricultural products have been held in Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul since March.

In the meantime, Khadim Mohammad Abid, who is in charge of holding exhibitions with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said that the ministry plans to hold 50 more exhibitions at home and abroad by the year-end.
