XI'AN, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Chen Yuxi and Yang Hao sealed the two victories as hosts China captured eight gold medals out nine events on offer at the World Aquatics 2024 Diving World Cup Super Final here on Sunday.

Chen and Yang also celebrated their trophies on the overall rankings at the 2024 World Cup as Best Female and Male Diver respectively after three stops in Montreal, Berlin and Xi'an.

In a battle between Chen and Quan Hongchan, it was Chen who had the last laugh as she won the women's 10m platform with five solid dives for a total of 443.20. Tokyo Olympic champion and reigning world champion Quan took the silver in 410.70, while Andrea Spendolini Sirieix of Britain picked up the bronze medal in 344.60.

"The huge crowd gave me a lot of confidence and encouragement. I feel excited and full of energy to compete and show my best in Xi'an. I will gear up for the coming Olympic Games together with my best friend Quan," Chen said.

Quan said that her mistakes in the decisive 207C brought her disappointment. "I was not fully ready and excited enough in the final. But I am very grateful to the crowd. My elder brother and sister are also here to cheer for me."

In the men's 10m platform, Yang Hao, a Xi'an native, suffered from a high fever just before the Super Final but found himself good enough to lead the event from morning heat to final, winning in 557.60.

"The gold medal and trophy of the Best Male Diver of the World Cup are the best gift to the crowd," Yang said.

Rikuto Tamai of Japan also showed stable form in the preliminary with 526.60 and finished second with 531.55 in the final. Randal Willars Valdez of Mexico came in third with 492.50.

On the medal table of the Super Final, China came top with eight golds and one silver, with Australia placing second with one gold and two bronzes. Britain finished third with two silvers and three bronzes, while Mexico took fourth with two silvers and one bronze.

A total of 85 divers from 15 teams competed in the three-day Diving World Cup Super Final.
