KAMPALA, Oct.24 (Xinhua) -- Kampala City Council Football Club, one of Uganda's top Premier League teams, has parted ways with their Portuguese coach.

The move follows a series of poor results on the international stage in the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup and four consecutive losses in the Premier League.

KCCA FC announced today that they have mutually agreed to part ways with coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil.

"KCCA FC and Head Coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil have today mutually parted ways with immediate effect," the club stated.

The club mentioned that Sergio is dealing with a family issue that requires his immediate attention, thus both parties have agreed to mutually part ways.

"Assistant Manager, Luis Manuel Correira Guerrero also leaves the club," the statement added.

The club extended its gratitude to the coach and assistant coach for their services and wished them well in their future endeavours. "First Team Coach Jackson Magera Kaddu takes charge of all first team duties as the interim head coach with immediate effect," the club informed.

Traguil, a Portuguese native and UEFA A license holder, was signed in June this year on a two-year contract. He succeeded Jackson Mayanja who was in charge of the team on an interim basis since April this year.

The Portuguese commenced his coaching career at Benfica in Portugal where he managed the club's youth teams. He also coached other teams like Kaduna (Nigeria), Hearts of Oak (Ghana), Singida Big Stars (Tanzania), CD Lunda Sol (Angola) among others.
