CHONGQING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Kang Ning, who is nearly 70 years old, is one of the two representative inheritors of Shu embroidery, a national intangible cultural heritage item in China.

Kang began to learn the making skills of Shu embroidery when she started working at the age of 23. She has created her own technique which allows for sewing the embroidery of different shapes and colors on both sides simultaneously, with the content on each side remaining separate and undisturbed.

Nowadays, Kang enrolls apprentices periodically and instructs them in making Shu embroidery artwork, hoping to pass on the craft.
