RIO DE JANEIRO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Mauricio Prado struck late as Internacional came from behind to register a 2-1 home win over Flamengo in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.
Gerson gave the visitors the lead just after the hour by capitalizing on sloppy defending to fire home from inside the six-yard box.
Mauricio put the hosts on level terms when he slid a shot past goalkeeper Aderbar Santos after Wanderson's perfectly weighted through ball.
Internacional went ahead in the eighth minute of stoppage time through Mauricio, who cut onto his left foot and chipped a shot into the far corner after spotting Santos off his line.
The result lifted Internacional to fifth in the 20-team standings with four points from two games, two points behind leaders Fluminense. Flamengo dropped to seventh, a point further back.
In other fixtures on Sunday, Atletico Mineiro drew 0-0 at Santos, Vasco da Gama were held to a 2-2 home draw by Palmeiras, Fortaleza won 3-0 at Coritiba, and Goias prevailed 3-1 at home over Corinthians. ■
