TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The winners of the first China-themed painting competition among Iranian children and teenagers were announced here on Wednesday.
The results and the award-winning works were released on the official website of Iran's Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, which jointly organized the drawing contest with the Chinese Embassy in Iran.
The contest was divided into two age groups, 7-11 years old and 12-16 years old, organizers said, adding that after the selection from 427 paintings received from young people across Iran, each group was awarded one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes.
Most of the winning works incorporate iconic elements of Chinese culture, such as red lanterns, the Great Wall, and dragons, and demonstrate Iranian children's imagination and thinking about China.
The awarded pictures also feature a variety of themes, including scenes depicting ancient Persians trading with Chinese people, festivals featuring Chinese children dancing on stilts, and Chinese landscapes painted in red and black, apparently inspired by traditional techniques of Chinese painting.
Organizers told Xinhua that this event aims to further strengthen the cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Iran, and deepen the people-to-people bond between the two countries through painting.
An exhibition is scheduled to be held in Tehran for one month from Jan. 4, 2023, to showcase the outstanding works of this competition. ■
