NEW DELHI, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- India on Wednesday announced its football team for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup, slated to begin in the country next week.
This is the first time for India to host the tournament, and its U-17 women's team will be making their debut.
A total of 16 teams are participating in the prestigious tournament to be played from October 11 to 30.
India has been drawn in Group A alongside the United States, Morocco and Brazil. Group B includes Germany, Nigeria, Chile and New Zealand, while Group C includes Spain, Colombia, Mexico and China, and Group D includes Japan, Tanzania, Canada and France.
India will face the U.S. on October 11, followed by Morocco and Brazil on October 14 and October 17 respectively, at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of the eastern state of Odisha.
The World Cup matches will be played at three venues in India, including Margao in the southern state of Goa and Navi Mumbai in south-western state of Maharashtra, besides Bhubaneswar.
