HEFEI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- From baby strollers to new energy vehicles (NEVs), from unmanned helicopters to monorail trains, visitors feasted their eyes on the wide range of products exhibited at the 2022 World Manufacturing Convention.

The convention was held in Hefei, the capital of east China's Anhui Province, from Tuesday to Friday. Themed "Creating a beautiful world through manufacturing," the event highlighted the latest products, technologies, and applications in the manufacturing sector.

More than 640 enterprises from home and abroad showcased their latest achievements at the convention.

PURSUING GREEN MOBILITY

At the showrooms for NEVs, a number of domestic and international NEV brands are displaying their latest NEVs, advanced technologies, and green concepts in manufacturing.

Volkswagen Anhui, a NEV-focused joint venture established in 2017 in Hefei, underlined its unwavering commitment to enhancing the development of a sustainable and robust NEV eco-system in Anhui at the convention Wednesday.

"Thanks to the impressive 'Anhui speed,' Volkswagen Anhui is on a path which will place it at the forefront of the NEV industry in the next few years," said Erwin Gabardi, CEO of Volkswagen Anhui. Gabardi made the remarks at the Sino-German Forum on the Development of the NEV Industry during the convention.

Volkswagen Anhui is sprinting towards the pre-series production of its first NEV model next month, and its mass production is scheduled for 2023.

Anhui has already gathered many world-renowned NEV manufacturers, including Volkswagen, JAC, Chery, NIO, and BYD, and key NEV industrial suppliers. The province is stepping up efforts to build a world-class industrial cluster of NEV and intelligent connected vehicles.

"Anhui manufactured 214,000 NEV units in the first half of 2022, an increase of 94.1 percent year on year, accounting for 30 percent of the province's total vehicle production," said Zhou Xi'an, vice governor of Anhui.

China has a massive market for NEVs. Nationwide, the sales of NEVs are expected to exceed 5 million units this year and will likely surpass 10 million in 2025, according to Xiong Meng with the China Federation of Industrial Economics.

To support the fast-growing NEV industry, China is also accelerating the construction of charging facilities. Data released by the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance showed that China's charging infrastructure facilities had reached 3.98 million units by July 2022, up by 97.5 percent year on year.

PROVIDING GREEN SOLUTIONS WORLDWIDE

CRRC Puzhen Alstom Transportation Systems Limited has brought its driverless, straddle-type monorail train to the 2022 World Manufacturing Convention. The model has been put in use in several cities, providing an environmentally-friendly way to ease the ever-growing traffic pressure.

In the city of Wuhu, Anhui, two monorail lines were put into operation last year amid efforts to build a green transportation system.

The same monorail train is being tested in Thailand's capital Bangkok and is expected to be operational next year. In 2017, the company signed a contract with Bangkok to provide 288 monorail train carriages for the city.

"Compared with the subway, the monorail is quieter, more adaptable, and cheaper to build. The construction cost is only one-third of the subway's," said Xu Haida, president of the company.

Maintaining the stability of global industrial and supply chains is a vital guarantee for promoting the development of the world economy and serves the common interests of all. China is taking concrete actions to deepen international cooperation on industrial and supply chains and ensure that people of all countries share the fruits of development, particularly green development.

Besides green transportation, China is also deepening global cooperation in renewable energy, contributing to global energy transformation.

As a leading Chinese renewable energy company, Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. has presented its latest photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems at the convention and many recent international events.

"We have established branches in 20 countries and regions. Our products are exported to 150 countries and regions. As of June, the combined installed capacity of our inverter equipment had exceeded 269 GW worldwide, constantly providing clean energy to local areas," said Xu Yiguo, a senior manager with Sungrow.
