UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday voiced deep concern about reports of renewed fighting along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, said his spokesman.
Guterres called on the sides to take immediate steps to de-escalate tensions, exercise maximum restraint and resolve any outstanding issues through dialogue and within existing formats, said Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman. "He also urges them to fully implement previously reached agreements."
The secretary-general expressed support for all ongoing mediation efforts in the region, said Dujarric. ■
