RIO DE JANEIRO, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Gabriel Barbosa and Giorgian de Arrascaeta were on target as Flamengo cruised to a 3-0 victory over America Mineiro in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.
Barbosa opened the scoring just before halftime at the Maracana stadium by latching onto Pedro's pass before firing a low shot past Matheus Cavichioli.
The Brazil international striker missed the chance to make it 2-0 shortly after the restart when he sent a penalty attempt wide of the right post.
De Arrascaeta doubled Flamengo's lead with a cool finish on the counter-attack after combining with Everton Ribeiro.
The hosts completed the rout in the 91st minute when he received a pass from Rodinei and rifled a 20-yard effort into the bottom left corner.
In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Saturday, Athletico Paranaense won 4-2 at home to Bragantino and Santos drew 0-0 at Corinthians. ■
