JERUSALEM, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Euro League basketball club Maccabi Tel Aviv has signed former NBA player Darrun Hilliard who plays in the shooting guard and small forward positions, the club said on Sunday.

The 29-year-old U.S. swingman signed a one-year deal with Maccabi.

"Many great players came to Tel Aviv with high expectations to win," Hilliard said. "I hope my teammates and I can bring that same great passion and drive to be successful."

Maccabi's head coach Oded Kattash said: "Darrun is a proven Euro League scorer with great size for the both positions he plays. He is a very good shooter who can also create separation off the dribble."

Hilliard played college basketball at the Villanova Wildcats, before being selected by the Detroit Pistons as the 38th overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft. His NBA career included 77 games in two seasons for the Pistons, and one season for the San Antonio Spurs.

Hilliard's European career began in 2018, including Euro League sides Baskonia, CSKA Moscow and Bayern Munich.
