RIO DE JANEIRO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Midfielder Adson scored late as leaders Corinthians salvaged a 1-1 home draw with local rivals Sao Paulo in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.
Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri put the visitors ahead with a close-range effort after Alisson's cross on the stroke of halftime.
Adson equalized with a bullet header after Lucas Piton's cross 10 minutes from time.
The result left Corinthians with 14 points from seven matches, two points ahead of second-placed Palmeiras.
Sao Paulo are third, trailing Palmeiras on goal difference.
In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Sunday, Athletico Paranaense secured a 2-1 home victory over Avai and Fluminense won 1-0 at Fortaleza. ■
