KABUL, April 18 (Xinhua) -- A total of 72 Afghan youth participated in a running and shooting competition held in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan on Monday.
"The one-day friendly competition held in Kabul aimed at promoting sports among the youth. Sport can contribute to the development of our society and directly affect the health of our youth," Khoshal Sarwari, chairman of Modern Pentathlon Federation of Afghanistan, told Xinhua.
The 72 youth and teenagers who participated in the race were from Kabul, Bamiyan, Ghazni and Logar provinces, according to Sarwari.
The Taliban-led caretaker government and the Afghan National Olympic Committee were supporting sports in the war-torn country, Sarwari said. ■
