Americans win ice dance at ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships

TALLINN, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The second day of the International Skating Union (ISU) Four Continents Figure Skating Championships witnessed Caroline Green/Michael Parsons of the United States winning the ice dance gold here on Friday.

Green/Parsons set a new personal best with 119.97 points in the free dance and accumulated 200.59 points in total. The pair led the rhythm dance with 80.62 points on Thursday.

Japan's Kana Muramoto/Daisuke Takahashi scored 109.48 points in the free dance and totalled 181.91 points, taking the silver medal.

The bronze went to Americans Christina Carreira/Anthony Ponomarenko, who earned 106.32 points in the free dance and a total of 175.67 points.

In the men's short program earlier on Friday, Junhwan Cha of South Korea scored 98.96 points to take the lead, followed by Japan's Kazuki Tomono and Kao Miura, who are respectively ranked second and third with 97.10 and 88.37 points.

The women's and pairs free programs are set to be held on Saturday, followed by Sunday's men's free program and the exhibition gala.

69 skaters from 12 ISU members are competing at the 22nd Four Continents Championships, including 17 men, 20 ladies, six pairs and 10 ice dancing duos.
