TEHRAN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Iran's health ministry on Saturday reported 1,421 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 6,218,741.
The pandemic also claimed 18 lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 132,044, said the ministry.
A total of 6,062,633 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 1,369 remained in intensive care units, it added.
By Saturday, 60,289,939 Iranians have received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 53,064,275 who have taken two jabs, and 12,205,821 who have got three shots.
In addition, 43,326,629 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in the country. ■
