HEFEI, Jan. 14 (Xinhua)-- Xuan paper is an ideal material for traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting art. It is also a precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation.
A team led by Prof. Yu Shuhong from University of Science and Technology of China has discovered the microscopic mechanism of high strength and high toughness of traditional Xuan paper.
Inspired by the structure of Xuan paper, the researchers made a high-performance, high-haze transparent film by assembling cellulose microfibers and cellulose nanofibers into a multiscale structure.
Even if the film is severely bent, the information written in the film can still be read quickly and accurately by the smartphone.
